We are currently looking for an Architectural Technologist – Contract to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across the full design process—from preliminary drawings through to construction support—and who thrives in a collaborative environment with design, sales, and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities

Working closely with the Design Manager, you will assist in the preparation and coordination of residential design and construction documentation, including:

  • Preparing preliminary and full working drawings using AutoCAD
  • Setting up job files and maintaining organized drawing records
  • Preparing plot plans and reviewing grades and elevations
  • Making job-specific revisions to working drawings and production plans
  • Coordinating drawings with structural, truss, mechanical, and other consultants
  • Preparing and submitting documentation for building permits
  • Ensuring drawings comply with Alberta Building Code, bylaws, and energy code requirements
  • Liaising with construction teams and trades to resolve drawing or design questions
  • Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of tender and construction documents
  • Supporting design development and continuous improvements to production plans
  • Conducting occasional site visits to review plan conformity and assist with issue resolution
  • Assisting with research and implementation of new materials, products, and construction systems
  • Supporting internal teams including sales, estimating, and construction with drawing documentation
Experience and Requirements

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical drafting skills with a collaborative mindset.

  • Minimum 5 years of drafting and design experience in residential construction
  • Experience with multi-family housing, townhomes, or similar projects preferred
  • Advanced AutoCAD skills (required)
  • Knowledge of the Alberta Building Code
  • Experience preparing plot plans and permit drawings
  • Understanding of residential construction methods and building assemblies
  • Ability to coordinate with consultants, trades, and internal teams
  • Diploma in Architectural Technology or Architectural Technician program preferred
  • Experience with Revit considered an asset
  • Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
